Who was Robert W. Moore?
Robert W. “Bob” Moore was a professional who dedicated his life to the improvement of health, well-being, and physical activity for children, youth, and adults. He provided outstanding leadership in the areas of health, and physical education at the state, district and national levels for over 30 years, and served as a mentor and positive role model for innumerable students, teachers, parents and professional colleagues.
He received many awards for his service to his profession and community including a Commendation from President Bill Clinton and a Proclamation from the Governor of Georgia. Other service awards were presented to him by the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, and the Georgia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. Bob was also president of his Georgia Phi Delta Kappa Chapter, an honorary educational fraternity.
In addition to his many educational accomplishments, Bob was a marathon finisher, a 100 mile walk finisher, and a Masters National Decathlon Champion. He exemplified quality health and physical education through both his personal and professional lives and made a lasting impact with the facilities he developed, the programs he created and the people whose lives he touched.
