During their meeting on July 11, the State Board of Education unanimously approved the new Performance Standards for Physical Education. 

According to Dr. Bud Reiselt, Program Specialist for Health and Physical Education at the Department of Education and former GAHPERD President, “ I certainly appreciate the full support of the members of the Executive Committee and all members of GAHPERD.

This is an historical event for Physical Education in the state of Georgia and I believe the Standards will lead to improved student performance and teacher effectiveness”. State wide training will be scheduled during the 2009-2010 school year with implementation during the 2010-2011 school year.
