   Therese McGuire is the new Health and Physical Education Specialist for the Georgia Department of Education. Therese will oversee health education and physical education at the Georgia Department of Education. She served as a health and physical education teacher, school administrator and school district curriculum coordinator

Take Part in a University Physical Education/Autism Survey

My name is Andrea Taliaferro, and I am a PhD candidate in Adapted Physical Education at the University of Virginia. I am creating a self-efficacy survey to investigate the confidence of physical education teachers towards including a child with autism into their general physical education classes, and am at the point where I need to validate the survey.

PEP Grant Updates - 2011 PEP Grant Program

In an effort to streamline the USDE's programs and increase effectiveness, the President's FY2011 budget contains major changes to the PEP grant program.

According to the USDE Web site, the President's budget proposes to eliminate six programs and consolidate 38 others into 11 new authorities. The PEP program, along with five other programs, would be consolidated into a new authority called "Successful, Safe and Healthy Students" (SSHS).

Georgia Department of Education Requesting Feedback

The Health and Physical Education Program in the Division of Standards, Instruction, and Assessment at the Georgia Department of Education is requesting feedback from all elementary, middle, and high schools.

Quick Action Needed for ESEA (formerly NCLB)

The U. S. House Education and Labor Committee is collecting comments regarding the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (formally No Child Left Behind) reauthorization. In an effort to have Physical Education and Health Education addressed and included in the reauthorization, your participation is extremely necessary. This is crucial as our country is at a very critical point and we can NOT miss this opportunity.
