GAHPERD President's Message Happy New Year! Hope your Winter has been filled with tidings of great joy! I know furlough days are not a part of our plan, but the good news is we have a job. Teaching kids, choreographing dances for all ages, creating recreation programs for indoor activities of basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming and more, college professors getting physical education, health, recreation and dance students and other majors ready for the real world.

I want to share with you one of my favorite poems often shared by Don Puckett when he presents his games and dance units at conventions and conferences all over the country, it's called "Keeping Children First".

KEEPING CHILDREN FIRST

is not

what's best for me, 

Nor what is in fashion or style. 

I pledge to do

with conscience free

What's best for every child. 

Even though problems, programs,

and people distract,

With eyes on the money purse. 

I commit myself

Will you join me in striving to "Keeping Children First" even though we are going through challenging times?

Let's keep our focus on "Keeping Children First". Let's encourage each other in doing this and help motivate our local/state/regional/national programs to join us in putting children first! Will you advocate?
